The godot hall table

In African walnut

This piece was a commission for my highschool drama teacher, who reached out to me for a hall table/server. I was given complete creative liberty in terms of design with the exception of dimensions and a requirement of two drawers.

I thought it would be appropriate to name the piece as I did because the play, Waiting For Godot (which he taught me at school) is one of the most influential pieces of art that moulded my creative thinking shuck naturally guides my style of furniture design.

The off-centered and strange criss-crosses surrounded by a conventional rectangle to make up the side panels and the visible inner parts created by those criss-crosses which allow the drawer function to be seen are great examples of The design elements that make this piece seem absurd, yet incredibly cohesive, simple and purposeful. This absurd yet cohesive feeling is especially present in waiting for godot and so the main theme of this design seems to be aptly connected with its name as well as its customer.
